Aimhigher staff support

Aimhigher Sussex was part of a national government-funded initiative to widen participation in higher education. Their brief was  to work primarily with young people from 13 to 30 who might not otherwise consider higher education, especially students who have no family experience of university.

The successful Aimhigher Sussex project reached the end of its funding in 2011 and Work & Learning Opportunities c.i.c were contracted to provide intensive one-to-one support to members of staff employed in universities and colleges across Sussex seeking new careers.

We helped  them on a 1:1 basis to manage these job changes with advice about how to update their CVs, hone their job application skills and even consider self-employment as an option.  We  set up mock interviews and provided extensive feedback to help them to develop their skills so that they had the best possible chance of getting the jobs they wanted.

This work, which is now complete as individuals have successfully moved on, was led by our associate Lynne Varney who received a great deal of positive feedback.
